My vision for e-learning

My vision for e-learning is that it is viewed as a tool to enhance the learning experience of the pupils. I don't think that in a traditional school setting it can ever replace face to face teaching but some of the tools that are embedded in the platform can stimulate new thought and enjoyment for whichever topic is being studied.

  1. I don't think it should be seen as replacing face to face teaching, but as an alternative at times to encourage more collaborative working practices and help more fully develop independent learning. Perhaps we also have to accept e learninmg a an aid to teaching, not just to learning, as teachers don't always have all the answers and tools can offer a rich alternative ar simply an innovative support mechanism to help us do our jobs. What do you think? Angela

  2. Is it not possible that somewhere down the line classrooms disappear, along with many classroom teachers. In their place a team of teachers could work together to share a timetable giving almost 24/7 access to help and have children working from home, or from a computer suite in a designated building. This would not have to be limited to a teacher per class but many children from many schools could be accommodated this way. I throw it in as an idea.

  3. I have looked at this in the past, I think its called a distributed model. In theory a student could access materials from many providers. But what about the students who can't learn in this way and need face to face contact? How would that school look? Or could existing schools remain; students attend but learn online in well resourced rooms?
