The things that I find strange is the slow uptake of the built in assessment facilities in our vle. You can set up essay style questions which when marked show you the exemplar answers so that you can award the marks correctly. Multiple choice assessments are massively underused at present. All subject areas could make use of this type of assessment and because it automatically marks the test, it would make their lives easier!

  1. Old habits die hard. Has everyone had the necessary training to fully utilise the facilities?

  2. Yes, I have implemented training sessions and offered to run INSET but there seems to be a lack of time for people to actually implement the facilities after having the training.

  3. Do you think that multiple choice assessment is really a totally sufficient way of assessing learning? I know AQA are looking at dropping this in the science GCSE, it worries me if E learning developes this may cause assessments to be have no depth.

  4. No I dont think it is a totally sufficent way of assessing but for quick feedback after a module it could work. Subjects such as maths where there is only one correct answer could benefit from this approach.
